MyMoneySense Shut Down — Here's What to Use Instead

MyMoneySense, the government-backed financial planning tool, ceased operations on 31 December 2025. If you relied on it — or never got around to trying it — here's what happened, what it means, and where to go from here.

What happened to MyMoneySense?

MyMoneySense (mymoneysense.gov.sg) was a digital financial planning service launched in 2020 by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and GovTech. It let Singaporeans log in via SingPass to get a snapshot of their financial health — CPF projections, a retirement readiness score, and basic recommendations.

On 31 December 2025, the service officially ceased operations. The domain (mymoneysense.gov.sg) no longer resolves — it's completely offline, not even a redirect. The similarly named MoneySense (moneysense.gov.sg) is a separate MAS-run financial literacy portal that publishes articles and guides — it is not a planning tool and cannot generate personalised projections.

What MyMoneySense offered

  • CPF projections — estimated CPF balances at retirement based on your actual contribution history
  • Retirement readiness score — a single number summarising whether you were on track
  • Basic financial health check — insurance coverage, emergency fund adequacy, and debt ratios
  • SingPass integration — pulled real data from government systems so you didn't have to enter everything manually

It was genuinely useful — the SingPass integration alone made it the most convenient way to get a quick financial health check in Singapore.

The gap it leaves

With MyMoneySense gone, there is no comprehensive, Singapore-specific financial planning tool available to the public. Here's what's left:

  • CPF Board's Retirement Planning Service (launched July 2025) — useful, but focused exclusively on CPF. It doesn't cover SRS, investments, tax, property, or other aspects of your financial picture.
  • Generic international tools (Empower, Projection Lab, etc.) — built for US/UK financial systems. They don't understand CPF, SRS, BTO, HDB, MediShield Life, or Singapore's progressive tax brackets.
  • Spreadsheets — the fallback option. Time-consuming to build and maintain, easy to get wrong, and difficult to model compounding interactions between CPF, SRS, tax, and investments.

Introducing Karui — a free financial planner built for Singapore

Karui was built to fill exactly this gap. It's a free financial planning tool designed from the ground up for Singapore residents — by a Singaporean who wanted something better than a spreadsheet.

Here's what it covers:

  • CPF projections — OA, SA, MA balances with 2026 contribution rates, BRS/FRS/ERS targets, and CPF LIFE payout estimates
  • SRS optimisation — contribution cap tracking, tax savings calculations, withdrawal planning with 50% inclusion rate modelling
  • Tax planning — Singapore's full progressive bracket system, all IRAS reliefs, marginal rate insights, and multi-year projections
  • Investment projections — portfolio growth modelling with inflation adjustment
  • FIRE calculator — financial independence projections calibrated for Singapore's cost of living
  • Monte Carlo simulations — 10,000 scenarios to give you a probability of retirement success, not just a single estimate

No SingPass login required. No credit card. All calculations run in your browser.

What Karui does that MyMoneySense didn't

MyMoneySense was a solid starting point, but it had limitations. Karui goes further in several areas:

  • AI Coach — an AI financial coach that explains your numbers in plain English, identifies optimisation opportunities, and answers questions about your specific situation
  • What-If Scenarios — compare up to three financial scenarios side by side. "What if I max out SRS?" "What if I delay retirement by 2 years?" See the impact instantly.
  • Monte Carlo simulations — MyMoneySense gave you a single projection line. Karui runs 10,000 simulations to show the range of possible outcomes and your probability of success.
  • Financial Wellness Scorecard — a comprehensive dashboard showing where you stand across savings, insurance, retirement readiness, and debt management
  • Life Events Impact Analysis — see how every major financial decision (new car, overseas education, property upgrade) affects your retirement timeline through side-by-side scenario comparison
